RETHINKING EDUCATION
A Pre-K4 - 8th grade school teaching in the Waldorf Tradition.

In the middle school years, handwork invites students to take on increasingly complex projects that call for careful planning, precision and perseverance.

This year, our 6th and 7th graders designed and handcrafted dolls entirely from scratch. Each student chose a meaningful subject to bring to life—from family members and themselves to favorite historical figures, artists, and celebrities. Every doll became a unique reflection of each student’s creativity and personality.

From the first sketch to the final stitch, students learned to transform an idea into a finished work through patience, problem-solving, and attention to detail. The smiles of the parents who recognized themselves in these handmade creations made the project even more meaningful.

Curiosity in action 🔬✨

Our 6th and 7th grade students presented their Physical Science projects in the last week of school, exploring concepts through observation, experimentation, and analysis.

From sound and light to heat and magnetism, students designed their own investigations, collected data, recorded results, and used evidence to explain the scientific principles at work.

Beyond learning scientific concepts, projects like these help students develop critical thinking, careful observation, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate their ideas clearly and confidently.

A year in review ✨

As we look back on the 2025–2026 school year, we are filled with gratitude for the many moments that shaped our journey together.
From the first day of school to the last, our students explored, created, performed, questioned, built, celebrated, and grew. They learned through stories, nature, music, movement, handwork, academics, and meaningful experiences that engaged their heads, hearts, and hands.

There were class plays and field trips, Pentathlon and May Faire, Earth Day celebrations, handwork projects, workshops, graduation milestones, and countless everyday moments of discovery, friendship, and joy.

Thank you to our students, families, faculty, and staff for making this such a memorable year. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings. 💛

Celebrating 21 years of dedication and service 🌹

As Ms. Esther begins her well-earned retirement, the Sunrise School of Miami faculty gathered for a special Rose Ceremony to celebrate her extraordinary 21 years of service to our community.

Each rose shared was accompanied by treasured memories, gratitude, and heartfelt reflections—a testament to the profound impact Esther has had on generations of students, families, and colleagues.

As one of SSoM’s founding members, Esther helped shape the heart of our school. Her love of children, passion for literature and music, wisdom, kindness, and unwavering dedication have touched countless lives and left an enduring legacy.

While we will deeply miss her daily presence, we are grateful for all she has given to our community and know that her influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

Thank you, Ms. Esther, for 21 years of love, guidance, and service. We wish you every happiness in this next chapter. 💛🌹
