Early Childhood Program
The Sunrise School of Miami Early Childhood program is designed to nurture the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—through a holistic approach to early education. Our classroom offers a warm, nurturing environment that fosters imagination, creativity, and a deep sense of wonder and joyful engagement with the world. Through shared activities, cooperative play, and a strong sense of rhythm and community, children develop important social skills, learning empathy, cooperation, and respect for others.
The early years of a child’s life are a precious time of wonder, discovery and growth. Our purpose is to honor and protect the magic of childhood while gently supporting each child’s social, emotional, and intellectual development. We strive to meet children where they are developmentally, creating an atmosphere that feels like a natural extension of home.
Our Early Childhood journey begins with the Parent-Child Program, where parents and caregivers explore Waldorf-inspired principles while their children engage in play, movement, and simple activities. Sunrise School of Miami also offers a nurturing Kindergarten program for children ages 4-6, thoughtfully guiding children as they prepare for the transition into the grade school.

What makes our program special:
Play-Based Learning: We emphasize hands-on, unstructured play as a vital tool for learning and development.
Natural Materials: Our classrooms are filled with simple, natural materials that spark imagination and creativity.
Artistic Expression: Painting, drawing, handcrafts, and music are woven into our daily activities to enrich the child’s experience.
Storytelling: Engaging stories nourish children’s imagination and language development, inviting them to form rich inner pictures and deepen their sense of wonder about the world.
Movement: Movement activities, offered through games, circle time, and rhythmic play, strengthen coordination, balance, and body awareness, laying an important foundation for healthy physical development and future learning.
What We Strive to Achieve

Nurture the Whole Child
We focus on fostering each child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Through purposeful play, artistic activities, and daily rhythms, children develop essential life skills and a sense of inner balance.

Encourage Imagination and Creativity
Imaginative play is the cornerstone of our early childhood program. It allows children to explore their world, develop problem-solving skills, and build their capacity for creative thinking.

Foster Social Skills and Community
In a Waldorf classroom, children learn the importance of collaboration, empathy, and respect. Through group activities like singing, storytelling, and shared tasks, we cultivate a sense of belonging and community.

Establish Healthy Rhythms
A consistent daily rhythm provides security and helps children feel grounded. Activities such as circle time, outdoor play, and mealtimes are carefully structured to align with the natural rhythms of a child’s day.

Learn Through Imitation and Meaningful Work
Young children learn best by doing alongside caring adults. Teachers model purposeful activities such as baking, cleaning, handwork, and gardening, inviting children to participate through imitation. Through these experiences, children develop independence, confidence, and a strong foundation for learning.

Connect with Nature
Time spent outdoors is integral to our program. Nature-based learning fosters a deep connection to the world around us, encourages curiosity, provides nourishment for the senses, resilience, and a sense of stewardship for the earth.
